Battle Maps
These are the period 1:50,000 topographic map sheets covering the ground the 362nd Infantry fought across—the same scale of map many of its officers used. They are arranged in order of the regiment's advance, from the Pisa hills in July 1944 to the Venetian plain in May 1945. Each is a high-resolution scan you can download and zoom in on.
Follow the maps in sequence (with your morning reports side-by-side) and you trace the whole campaign: across the Arno to Florence,
up over the Gothic Line at Futa, the long Apennine winter on Highway 65, then the spring
breakout through Bologna, across the Po, and on to Udine.
